Thick multi-layer materials (1.5 – 3 mm) are heavy-duty composite constructions consisting of multiple bonded layers of textiles, foams, plastics, films, laminates, adhesives, or reinforced materials.
Because thick multi-layer structures often combine flexible, rigid, and adhesive layers within a single material, wear-resistant and low-friction blades are highly recommended. DLC-coated blades and tungsten carbide cutting tools provide smoother cutting performance, cleaner edges, reduced friction, and extended blade life when processing demanding laminated materials.
