Blade materials
In our portfolio we have blades of tungsten carbide for the signmaking industry. Tungsten carbide is the standard for these markets because of its resistance to wear. The downside of this hard metal, brittleness appears to be no major issue when used in most cutter machines.
For slitting operations the story is different. Because of the wide range of applications, machines, shapes etc, there are multiple steels for even more operations. Analyzing the cutting operations, test and measure, maybe more tests, will provide a satisfactory result in terms of appropriate steel selected.
Then there are also several options for coating blades to extend blade life, reduce friction, dissipate heat etc. More on steel selection for your application;
